I have been investigating the concept of ‘Peak Oil’ and considering its implications.
The Wolf At The Door web site is a good starting point for understanding this concept
from a UK perspective. The Oil Drum is also an interesting source of information
about the use of energy in all its forms. This UK-
Dr Albert Bartlett, a professor at Boulder University in Colorado explains the concept
of exponential growth very simply in his series of 8 short illustrated talks. More
importantly he illustrates graphically how such growth will become totally unsustainable.
Fortunately, for all of us, the whole series is now available on ‘You Tube’. The
first lesson in the series can be found here. I recommend it to you strongly -
Perhaps, surprisingly, I am still an optimist. Past history has shown that on many occasions it would have been easy to write off the future for mankind. I appreciate that some huge fundamental adjustments are going to be required in the months and years that lie just ahead. Just how that will happen remains to be seen. Returning to Chris Martenson and his course which is also on ‘You Tube’ and which can be accessed directly via his web site. There is also a much higher quality version of his course now available on DVD.
Following the guidelines on Chris Martenson’s web site I am now producing and distributing
this DVD (legally and gratis) on request from family and friends who want it. Everyone
else will need to pay a nominal amount to cover the costs of production and postage.
